Clinical Ethics Intensive
Welcome to the participant portal for the CommonSpirit Health Clinical Ethics Intensive. The Clinical Ethics Intensive (CEI) is held on various site specific dates (see details below) and utilizes a virtual format. The CEI brings together staff from CommonSpirit hospitals to engage in training provided by the system Mission Innovation, Theology and Ethics team. Join ethicists Kevin Murphy, System SVP of Mission Innovation, Ethics and Theology and Becket Gremmels, System VP of Theology and Ethics in an innovative program designed to educate and enrich ethics committees and leadership.
The CEI offers high-intensity training on practical aspects of clinical ethics training for employees and physicians who are or will be involved with clinical ethics consultation at CommonSpirit Health ministries. The training reviews skills and tools for ethics consultants to use in clinical ethics consults. Participants then have opportunities to use those skills and tools in five role play sessions that simulate clinical ethics consults.
The CEI is entirely virtual through Zoom. There are multiple breaks throughout the time in order to facilitate virtual learning. The role play sessions are done in small groups in virtual breakout rooms. Each small group has an ethicist or experienced ethics consultant to provide real-time feedback and support to participants.
The CEI is required training for all Ethics Responders in CommonSpirit Health, or anyone who provides clinical ethics consultation. Participation is by invitation only, for more information contact Russell Keithline
