Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, and Personhood
The Fall 2023 Ethics on the Big Screen event takes a deep dive into the topic of living with Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia, exploring the lived experiences of patients and their caregivers. This session’s program will feature an episode of the PBS Series Aging Matters: Living with Alzheimer's and Dementia, and will highlight panelist perspectives from healthcare professionals and the personal experiences of caregivers. Special focus will be given to how stigma, social expectations, and organizational structures impact the lived experiences represented throughout this event. Using the framework of healthcare ethics, we will explore ways to expand our moral imagination and enhance our interactions from a place of empathy and compassionate insight.
