Safe and Affordable Housing

Promoting shelter and housing for better health. (Laudato Si 152)

As part of our ministry’s commitment to our shared home, CommonSpirit works to enhance the availability of safe and affordable housing. The Community Investment Program currently has $66.5 million deployed to partners that are developing or rehabilitating more than 1,400 units of transitional and affordable housing in multiple states. The Homeless Health Initiative in California has awarded $9 million to agencies that address housing insecurities and homelessness. This includes strengthening collaboration between health systems and medical respite or recuperative care programs that connect patients to primary care, social services and housing supports, and transition clients to stable living situations for better health.
