Stopping Forced Labor

Concern for the environment needs to be joined to a sincere love for our fellow human beings. (Laudato Si 91)

Across the world, an estimated 40 million people are in modern day slavery. Many are forced to work under threat of violence and unable to walk away. Often they work in factories overseas to produce goods that are sold in the U.S., including medical supplies such as exam gloves. CommonSpirit is working to end this by addressing forced labor in the health care supply chain. This includes working with our suppliers to stop the common practice of debt bondage and ensure workers have freedom of movement. Together, we can live out our mission of advancing social justice for all.
